Every night I plan to go to bed by 10:30. I almost never follow through. So here it is nearly midnight, and I'm still up. But when you work all day and then spend most of the evening playing with your preschooler, eating dinner, giving the preschooler a bath, doing the dishes, and straightening up the house (it was A.'s turn to do bedtime tonight), by the time everything is done, it's 9:30! I need time to do stuff for me at night, even if it's just reading blogs, looking at the 5 million catalogs that came in the mail today, or (in tonight's case) designing and ordering our Christmas cards. (They came out pretty cool, by the way. I love Shutterfly!)
Unfortunately, indulging on time at night makes me less ready to deal with my boy in the morning. But I do my best. Also, by the time I head upstairs to go to bed, I'm so tired that I end up falling asleep in the middle of my devotions and prayers. But I've been trying the "pray without ceasing" thing lately. I just chat with God whenever I think of it, especially when I'm on the T or the bus. I pray when I'm in the shower. The one place I can't bring myself to pray, though, is when I'm going to the bathroom. That just seems wrong. :-)
Ok, I'm going to talk to A. now. We've both been home today but on our laptops all day long. Time for some real human conversation!
Good night!
