Today's Good Things (and then some pictures)

Today's Good Things
  • 7.5 hours of sleep!

  • An easy, happy drop-off for R at school

  • Checking email to find wonderful comments from my loving family!

  • Sunshine to melt some of the ice and snow

  • Working from home all day with A

  • A short line at the post office

This is the view of the snow from my kitchen window, as I mentioned yesterday (please disregard the mess in the sink! No comments unless you would like to buy us a dishwasher...):

Isn't that hilarious? (For those who've never been to my house, my kitchen window overlooks a little attached shed. So it's not THAT deep, but still!) We have close to two feet of snow on the ground now.

Here are some pics from a week ago when we decorated our tree. First, the bare tree (except for A's paper rocket at the top):

Then, R found the camera. He's getting pretty good at taking pictures (and yelling at us to "make funny faces!").

Another picture taken by R:

The finished product!

And, here's our gingerbread train. I had SO much fun with this. R saw the kit advertised in the King Arthur Flour catalog, and I couldn't resist. He lost interest after we stopped letting him eat the candy, but I wouldn't rest until we got every piece of candy on the thing.

I'm sneaking on here-I let Mike start a blog so I'm sort of justified- I'm glad that you seem to be a little less stressed today, and I'm so sorry you have to work so much. And sorry I had Shaun put that real estate thing on there (by the way, the place is 6.8acres, not 6.58, next to the lake,2150 square feet), I guess it's the only consolation I can throw out, and I know it's not helpful anyway.Sorry:) R's pictures are REALLY good!!! My kids usually get pictures of their own thumbs, we have one short movie that Mike made featuring my upper left thigh and shoe, and some of the floor at the Cub Scout Cake Bake competition. But R seems to be a budding professional, especially demanding poses from you guys! Miss you!

The tree and gingerbread house look great! And I love your list of things to be thankful for! There are definitely the "glass half empty" days, but it's easier to look at the glass as half full, right? Miss you!

Holy crap you are just the best freaking mom/wife in the world. Love the snow pic. Sure do miss the stuff. You can groan about the shoveling but when you don't have it, you miss it.

That ginger-bread train rocks!

A three year old photographer! He's amazing! I love the gingerbread train. It came out beautifully. Is it solid like a cake or flat sided? Has it been eaten yet? I'm so glad you finally got some rest. Love you.

Johanna - No worries on the real estate! Believe me, every time I feel like I can't take it anymore, my first thought is to sell the house and move to Florida. Then, A could work remotely and I could just stay home with R. Ah, fantasies! You have to share Mike's blog URL!

Mom - The train is just made out of many pieces of flat, very hard gingerbread. It was a kit - we just basically punched out the pieces, squirted out the icing, and stuck on the candies. Perfect for doing with a three-year-old! R has been picking away at the candies slowly, but I don't think any of us could eat the gingerbread without breaking a tooth. :-)

Stef - Miss you, too!

Nettie - I miss shoveling, too! A had to do it all by himself this time because it was raining and messy out, so my job was to keep R occupied inside.

Dad - I'm glad Firefox worked for you!
