After A and I picked up R from school this afternoon, I quickly checked my email to make sure no emergencies had happened at work. Unfortunately there was an email from my best friend asking for prayers:
A co-worker and friend of ours who was pregnant and due in December just found out that she lost the baby.
My friend's parents' doctor endured a horrible, horrible tragedy: his home was invaded, he was severely beaten, and his wife and two daughters were killed. This man has been incredibly supportive of my friend's dad during his brain cancer battle, even praying for him.
Please keep these people and their families in your prayers. I cannot even begin to fathom the pain they are experiencing, but I know that God is suffering with them and that he is drawing them close to him. All I could think of when I read the email was, "Jesus wept."

Ohhhhhh, how absolutely horrible for this man to lose his wife and daughters...I can't imagine.
And also, to lose a baby, very sad.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, I can tell I will enjoy yours!
They are certainly in my prayers -- as are you, for you will need just as much strength to support those you love just as much as those going through these tragedies and difficulties in their lives.
I wept a bit too when I read this.
Jesus, please help this one who has spent his life training to help people and then working to bring health to people. Please bring good from this horrible experience.
Yes, let's all pray. Cheshire is down my way, home town to several of my work colleagues.
I have this on my blog, too! Our small group prayed for Dr. Petit last night. I woke up and thought of him and asked God to just help him through his day today. What a sickeningly horrid thing he's having to walk through. I told my small group last night, I'd rather endure my current divorce 1000 times over than ever have to deal with what he's dealing with. Ugh.
