I'm back!

Just wanted to post really quick because it's been a long time! We had a wonderful visit with my mom, the weather was beautiful the whole time, we spent lots of time outside, and R had a very nice birthday. We're still talking to contractors about our bathroom, but we should be getting started on the work soon - if A and I can agree on what we want to have done. :-)

Gotta run to a meeting, but I'll post tonight with pictures. Happy Friday!

Sweetheart, I wish you good luck on your project. To make sure that you are not being gouged, try to get "Means Home Improvement Cost Gude" from a bookstore. The R.S. Means company, which is located in Kingston Mass., sets the price for all work nationwide. The prices can be adjusted by ZIP code and inflation using the tables in the book.
The man that came down five thousand dollars is suspicious. A general guidline is 1/3 up front, 1/3 when the work is half done, and the last third upon completion. The biggest danger is if the contractor's child support is overdue, if it is your down payment is history. I am not kidding about this, I have seen too many problems with it. He must have insurance and if he has other people working for him, he must have Workman's Comp. Everyone says they do but most of them don't. Remember, R.S. Means, it will give you a price right to the dollar. I hope your meeting went well,
daddy
